“Do you think you have to go to church to experience God?”
So asked the patient as my wife, a dental hygienist was cleaning her teeth. (I have no idea how she managed to say anything while sharp instruments were scraping around in her mouth.)
One popular Christian writer has recently said that he finds no reason to attend a church, that his main expression of church is to open his house to others, not conducting any kind of gathered worship experience, but just sharing life together.
This Sunday at the Gathering Church we will try our best to understand what God has in mind about the role of church. How can it be described not merely as a worship service but as the Body of Christ?
We will discover that the question changes from, “Do I attend church?”, to “Have I joined with Jesus to build the church?”
How is it possible for church to become the fullest expression of the presence and the work of Christ in the world?
