Advent at GC
Each year, The Gathering Church produces a communal advent devotional with original artwork and writing by GC folks. We have designed this Advent devotional to help you prepare for the celebration of God’s arrival and the return of Jesus Christ for the renewal of all things. Each week will have its own section with a theme, and each day, except Sunday, will include a Scripture passage and a reflection created by one of our own Gathering Church folks. This year’s theme is “Dreaming with God.” You can access daily entries beginning Monday, December 1!

Pastor Statement
Consider this Advent devotional an invitation to dream with God. Use your holy imagination to envision new possibilities, new creation, and a future that is different from the present, for yourself and our world.

Artist Statement
My favorite part of art as a whole is the thousands of ways it can be interpreted. So when viewing my artwork, don't be confined to just my perspective. Look for more than I even recognized, and relate it to your own life.
1st Week of Advent
Memory Verse
“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God…” (Romans 12:2)
Weekly Practices
Keep a “transformation” journal this week. Each day, notice and write down where you’ve seen transformation or change in yourself, in others, in creation.
Remove one thing from each day of your week, or say no to one activity. Observe where and how God meets you after intentionally making space.
