Whom have I in heaven but you?

And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

What kind of experience with God would make a person want nothing more than God?

On Wednesday nights I am often with friends at a local bar.  A Boys’ Night Out started by some Jewish men somehow included me years ago, so I am often there.  This week two of the men, one raised in an observant Jewish home and one raised in a Christian home, politely explained to me why they no longer believed in God, although technically one is more of an agnostic, believing in something.  Both are the oldest men there and both find more guidance for life in Buddhism.  What seemed surprising to me was how content and satisfied one of them is to live in a world with no God.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church, the series A Solid Faith:  10 Core Beliefs continues with a focus on the subject of God.  Isaiah 40:9-14, 25-31 will guide us.

What do we believe is true about God?

How relevant can it be to our lives?

Why are we the very best we can be when we find our joy in God?

How can we experience more of God?
