Preview and Input

Usually on Tuesday I announce the sermon topic for the following Sunday and invite input.  This Sunday is going to be a little bit different.  And I don’t want to give too much of it away.

It’s going to be less of a sermon and more of a workshop, a follow-up to last  Sunday.  “Priest Training” will be the focus of the workshop.  Again, I don’t want to give too much away, but my hope is that the result will radically change the way that we are engaged with others.  The workshop will combine how we can be present to God and engage others in a significant way.  And, it it’s effective, it will also connect us together, because we will be doing something together.

I am excited about how practical the concept of being priests to God and to the world can be.  Just the change in attitude that happens in us when we get this truth in action is great.  For instance, imagine what it would be like if every church in America came together on Sundays as priests, having served all week long in that capacity.  Think of the consumer mentality that would have to be trashed if we came with the humble attitude of priests who so desperately needed to gather before God for instruction, strength, and power.

I’m inspired by this priest notion because I am seeing it happen in the lives of so many at the Gathering.  I’m seeing people serve each other as priests, while developing a heart for the world.

So, this Sunday we will do something very specific that will encourage a particular habit that all priests have when they engage the world.

And, you know what the best thing is?  Not only will your life be positively affected, but so will the lives of many others.
