This Sunday – March 24

March Madness is a bust unless something unexpected happens.

It doesn’t matter when the first game started in this year’s tournament. March Madness didn’t begin until #14-seeded Harvard beat #3-seeded New Mexico. You can count on one hand the number of times that has happened.

Palm Sunday, this Sunday, is the Church’s version of March Madness. Okay, maybe it’s a stretch to connect sports to Jesus and Palm Sunday sometimes happens in April, but what is not a stretch is to understand what prompted a crowd to go crazy over what they were seeing.

The unexpected.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church Matthew 21:1-11 will be our guide to the event which Palm Sunday celebrates, Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

Why did the crowd go crazy over “this prophet from Nazareth in Galilee (an unseeded prophet in the scheme of things)?

What do we learn about Jesus from this that matters today?

What changes about life when we expect the unexpected work of God in our lives?

This Sunday at the Gathering Church.
