This Sunday – May 8

This Sunday – May 8

They were part of something that had never existed.

It was nearly impossible to categorize, difficult to explain.  But, it couldn’t be ignored.

The Church.  The Body of Christ.

What is easy to ignore today was so radical then that they had to invent new ways of speaking about it.

But, who were those in the  Church?

Jews?  Gentiles? The rich?  The poor?  Slaves?  Masters?  Men?  Women?

Yes.  All of the above.

This Sunday I have the privilege of teaching from Ephesians 2:11-22.  The resurrection of Jesus changed everything, including the relationships we have with others.  Everything that has been distorted, corrupted or killed by death is now being changed by the same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead.

And that goes for social barriers, economic divisions, racial lines – everything that the world has accepted as normal.

Preview:  to understand what God is doing we will focus on this verse –

And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.  Ephesians 2:22

It explains the new basis for our relationships, including those in marriage, families, work – you name them – God’s Spirit is going to bring new life to them.

Let’s learn what it means to be a place where God lives.
