Tragedy

Tragedy

Our community has experienced a tragedy this week in the murder of three students.  We join with their families and friends to grieve this senseless loss.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church we want to pause and learn how to lament, how to cry out to God for mercy.  Christians from other cultures often notice that American churches do not know how to lament.  We are often too busy, or too ready to move on.  Or worse, our self-reliance kicks us quickly into ‘fix-it’ gear.

To lament one has to care.

To care one has to pay attention.

And to pay attention one has to be present to the heart of God.

This Sunday we will do our best to be present to the heart of God.
